An extensive extended cruise circling Australia has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was left behind by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the party for a rest. The liner left without her and came back after some time after the crew became aware the passenger was missing.

A major rescue mission located her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, together with police and the official investigator.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that travelers and crew on the ship were told that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and earlier mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he added that passengers would be provided a full refund, and said the organization was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also issued an revised statement, and said they had "provided a directive to the Commander" prohibiting any additional guests from getting on the liner.
