19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four early chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
